It Doesn’t Add Up

Back in my college days, money was tight. Always. Single mom. Three sons. Three part-time jobs. And a full-time schedule of classes. What was I thinking? Would God supply all our needs? What was my part? I believed my role was to come up with a strategy. Then ask God to bless my effort with results good enough to get us by. Tooling down the freeway one sunny afternoon, I offered Him my solution to the latest financial crisis. The end of the semester was 2 weeks away. I could sell my textbooks back to the bookstore and …

Suddenly I sensed The Lord smiling at me. You know. The way a parent does when His kid is eagerly spouting grand-but-naive ideas.

”I don’t know why I’m telling You this,” I chuckled aloud.
“You never do things my way.”

God Supplies Our Needs

One thing I’ve learned about God – He didn’t take the same Math Courses I did. Can’t recall how He met our needs that time. But He did. He always did.

And He’s still doing it today.

  • He’s Generous beyond imagination.
  • It’s Who He is & what He does.

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. MATTHEW 6:31-33

He Actually Prefers Multiplication, Starting with X2!

Instead of your shame
    you will receive a double portion,
and instead of disgrace
    you will rejoice in your inheritance.
And so you will inherit a double portion in your land,
    and everlasting joy will be yours. ISAIAH 61:7

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. EPHESIANS 3:20-21

God has an abundant supply of everything you need.
Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness.

Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-Control.
